About Steph Nelson

Steph Nelson began writing science fiction in 2011 while deployed to Iraq as an Army behavioral health officer. Faced with the stressors of war, Steph used her science fiction writing as a way to process her experiences in the Army. Following her military service, Steph lived in Greece for several months and finished her first sci-fi trilogy, the Qi Saga, written under the name S. Dawn Nelson.

Steph then moved to the Washington, DC area in 2013 where she currently works as a social worker. At a book club in Arlington, VA, she met her good friend and writing partner Jeff Durkin. After learning that Jeff also wrote science fiction, Steph decided to collaborate with him on an idea for a cyberpunk novel, Obey the QUEEN. Completed in 2017, this novel is currently in the process of being edited for publication. Steph and Jeff also are working on a podcast story together, Edgewood, that will be released later in 2017.

Steph enjoys hiking, horseback riding, biking, quality conversation over a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, travel, singing, and live music.

About Jeff Durkin

Born in Texas and raised in Michigan, Jeff fled the icey Midwest as soon as he could. His destination: Washington, DC. After 15 years of toiling away in the Federal government in a variety of IT related jobs, he decided to pursue writng full time. That was in 2013. Now, 4 years later, he has numerous stories and articles under his belt, as well as his first novel The Age of the Jackal.

After meeting Steph in 2014, the idea of collaboration seemed to be a no-brainer. It soon became evident that they could work together, not murder each other over semicolons (always an issue when writers get together) and produce some great fiction.

Jeff currently lives in the great city of Arlington, the Paris of Northen Virginia. When not writing he likes to read...and then write about what he reads. He's also a film buff...who writes about what he watches. Okay, well, he also hikes, bikes, shoots (cameras only!), and can even be found ripping it up on Call of Duty multiplayer. And he doesn't write about any of those. Except here.
